Hard to believe, the holidays are quickly approaching and we at the Breathing Room Foundation couldn’t be more excited to get started. I have to say, that although it is a crazy busy time of year and sometimes a bit overwhelming, it couldn’t be more rewarding to know that you are making a difference during the holiday season. It is heartwarming to see the number of volunteers that come out to help and the amazing generosity of hundreds of individuals and businesses that contribute toward making these programs possible.
Last year, in 2013 BRF provided 122 complete Thanksgiving dinners to our families. In 2014 we expect to increase that number to close to 150 families. This was only possible because of the generous donations of food that came from Jenkintown School District, Shipley School, Willow Hill Elementary, and so many others. We had hundreds of volunteers who showed up at the hall to help us sort, organize, and deliver the meals while many volunteers baked homemade desserts and cards to be included with the deliveries.
In 2013 we fulfilled the wish lists of 145 families thanks to the generosity of families, businesses, schools, churches, neighborhoods and scout troops. The collection site was a revolving door of volunteers coming to wrap, shop, organize and deliver these gifts to our families. The families receiving these gifts are not only relieved of the financial burden that the holidays bring, but also the time and energy that it takes to shop and wrap for their entire family. It is such a special gift for them to know that someone that they don’t even know has cared enough to extend such generosity toward them.
Please help us make an impact this holiday season by participating in any way that you are able. The flyers below will give you more detailed information about the Thanksgiving and Holiday Programs. Consider sharing this information with your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and church groups.
