As the Breathing Room Foundation continues to grow and to be a vital resource for families in the greater Philadelphia region who are fighting the difficult battle against cancer, it is essential that we build and maintain the internal strength of the organization. With a small staff of just four, our Board of Directors plays an active and critical role in the success of the Foundation.
A.J. Juliani
Head of Learning and Growth – NextLesson
A.J. Juliani grew up in Jenkintown. He and his wife Katie were in school with Jamie, our founder Diane’s daughter, during Diane’s six-year battle with Breast Cancer. AJ has since become a leader in the Education sector, publishing eight books and speaking across the nation on alternative ways of learning.
A.J.’s philosophy on empowering teachers and students, by giving them the tools they need to adhere to everyone’s individual style of learning, is similar to how the foundation responds to every family referred. A cancer diagnosis and treatment affects everyone differently, and each family’s needs are unique to their own situation. A.J. understands firsthand how vital our catered support and personalized touches are to our recipient’s quality of life.
“It was an incredible experience to witness our family on the receiving end of the Breathing Room, when my brother Gabe was battling cancer. I am honored to now have the opportunity to serve on the Board in his memory. The love and support the Foundation gave our entire family was one of a kind, and I look forward to helping provide that same support for those in our community fighting cancer.”
With A.J.’s background in technology and virtual learning, we know he will be an asset, as we look to improve our own online presence. The connections he has made within the school systems will also be instrumental in helping the Breathing Room strengthen our connection with the communities we serve. A.J. and his wife still reside in the Borough of Jenkintown and will
be welcoming their 5 th child the first week of October. To learn more about A.J. and his initiative in learning, please visit http://ajjuliani.com/
Bill News
Educational Consultant – LexisNexis Risk Solutions
Bill News is a consultant specializing in data integrity and analytics. During the pandemic he has worked exclusively with Health Departments in their contact tracing efforts to help eradicate COVID-19.
Bill has always had a passion for giving back to his community. While Bill and his wife raised their two daughters in Jenkintown, he became very involved in the JYA (Jenkintown Youth Activities) Board, spearheading their sponsorship efforts. After his two daughters went off to college, Bill felt he was ready to move on from the JYA Board and focus his efforts on the Breathing Room Foundation.
Bill is no stranger to our mission. Having lived in the community over the past 20 years, Bill has seen first-hand our mission at work, and has supported our efforts. He is a long-time program donor, and donates Phillies tickets to give families some respite during treatment.
“It is impossible to not want to be a part of the Foundation’s mission, once you realize what lengths they will take to give someone in our community the “breathing room” they need to focus on their fight against cancer.”
Bill has already jumped right in joining our Golf Committee and helping us with our development initiatives. With his strong ties to the community, and his determination to lend a helping hand any way he can, we know Bill will be an excellent ambassador for our Foundation.
Adam Pritzker
Founder and President – Pritzker Law Group
In June of 2019, Adam Pritzker and his twin sister Rachael were excitedly growing their law firm, Pritzker Law Group, established in 2017, when Adam was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage III(A) Testicular Cancer and Lymphoma. After two major surgeries and four rounds of Chemotherapy, as of 2020, Adam received the wonderful news of remission status.
In order to help others facing a similar battle, Adam looked to support an organization that is hands on with removing the barriers that cancer patients face during treatment. The Breathing Room Foundation is pleased Adam has chosen to accept a Board position at our Foundation. Having a representative on our Board who understands what our families experience on a day to day basis, and how vital our resources are, is essential to our mission.
“As a cancer survivor, I saw firsthand how important it is to have organizations, such as the Breathing Room Foundation, in the community to let those fighting know they are not alone. The Breathing Room’s initiatives and distinction as a seamless ‘gap filler’ for services that are often overlooked in the cancer treatment process, is not only commendable but a vital piece of the healthcare process.”
We look forward to working with Adam as he has leadership and business development skills, we believe will help us bring awareness to our mission and cause. Adam, an attorney and entrepreneur, is from the Bryn Mawr area and currently resides in Philadelphia with his wife Leslie and two dogs, Lacey and Louie.
